Janardan Sharma "Prabhakar"

Janardan Sharma is a Nepalese politician and former Finance Minister of Nepal. He is a three-time parliamentarian. He has previously served as Minister of Home Affairs, Energy, and Peace and Reconstruction Nepal. He has been involved in politics for many years and has been held important positions in the government of Nepal. He is known for his efforts to promote democracy and human rights in Nepal. Janardan Sharma is respected by many people in Nepal for his dedication to public service and his commitment to improving the lives of Nepali citizens.

Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’ was born in 25 April, 1963 in Rukum District. He was the Minister of Home  from 2016-2021. Sharma played a key role in Nepal’s Maoist insurgency. He was arrested and imprisoned for his involvement in the insurgency. He has been accused of human rights violations during the conflict. And he is also a member of the communist party of Nepal (Maoist Centre). Sharma has been elected to parliament multiple times since 2008.

He is known for his strong stance against corruption and crime. In 2021, he resigned as Home Minister citing health reasons. Janardan Sharma remains an influential figure in Nepali politics today.

In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election he was elected from the Rukum-2 constituency, winning 30270 votes. He has been one of the four Deputy-Supreme-Commander of the People’s Liberation Army of Nepal, but retired from military career after being elected to member of parliament. He is currently the Home Minister under Sher Bahadur Deuba lead Government. The political party of Janardan Sharma is CPN (Maoist Centre) (1995, 2018, 2021-present). His other political affiliations is Nepal Communist Party (2018-2021).
